In the mood of a sweet treat but don’t want to go overboard on the calories? Try some of these “low-cal swaps” which can help make your baked goods a little less evil!

1 cup canola oil (1925 calories) 1 cup unsweetened applesauce (100 calories)

1 whole egg (80 calories) 2 egg whites (30 calories)

1 cup sour cream (485 calories) 1 cup fat-free yogurt (140 calories)

1 cup chocolate chips (800 calories ) 1 cup Craisins (370 calories)

1 cup orange juice (110 calories) 1 cup water (minus 3 TBSP) mixed with 3 TBSP l lemon juice (10 calories)

1 cup heavy cream (413 calories) 1 cup evaporated skim milk (200 calories)

1 cup whole milk (150 calories) 1 cup skim milk (80 calories)

1 cup butter (1625 calories) 1 cup mashed banana (200 calories)

*Note: Don’t try to cut out more than half the fat in a recipe; rather, substitute half the amount of fat for a healthier alternative, and for the other half use the original ingredient.
